Community groups

Community groups associated with regional natural resource management (NRM) groups are an integral part of the overall Designer Carrots approach. Groups such as Landcare, Bushcare, Coastcare and Rivercare groups are now working closely with regional NRM groups to implement regional NRM plans and investment strategies. The Designer Carrots program can help them to implement these plans and strategies.

The Australian, State and Territory Governments are actively encouraging land managers and community groups interested in improving their NRM practices to contact the regional NRM group in their area for assistance.

Catchment management groups and regional NRM bodies

Across Australia, 56 NRM regions have been identified. Through consultation and involvement with community groups, industry, Indigenous people and all levels of government, each region has produced integrated regional NRM plans and investment strategies, which helped identify and coordinate actions that addressed issues specific to a particular region.

Regional NRM groups are involved in a number of MBI projects.
